OOOOOOOOOOOOO-I, this place is splendid! Talk about atmosphere, going into a futuristic cave with your shoes off is always an amazing start. You don't get this down the Queen's Head!
The bar is up on the 3rd floor. You have to take the lift up there which is next to Artbox (just a little pointer there, as we ended up walking up and down the stairs several times and getting confused).
You walk straight out of the lift into the bar. With a sign saying take off your shoes and put in a bag. That's because the low tables have white floors down the right hand side of the bar, whereas the ones around the left have normal ( as normal as you're guna get in here) tables. You then walk across a series of stepping stones to the 'booth' alloted to you.
The booths are separated in various ways. Ours has a kind of curtain around it, where as others have walls that look a bit like melted ice-cream. And another table is raised up on some stairs, nestled into a corner. The bar has the same look, I described it as Blackpool Pleasurebeach Space Mountain painted white, but I know that's a bit specific. It's just a place you have to go see!! We didn't really take photos, but you can google the place to see some.
So yeh, it's pay at the bar service. Bud and Cafri is 5,000 a bottle, so not too insane, really. They have cocktails and a wide variety of other boozes, which is a good thing.
In the corner there's a dancefloor, and even though tonight is suprisingly dead (Thursday at 10 o clock) so there's nobody throwing shapes. The DJ booth looks like something out of space too, and is white like the rest of the surroundings.
The music is pure house pumping away. Good volume, suits the place no end. Surely if you were stuck in a melting white ice cream world, it would also have house music going on? Just a thought......
Even the toilets are a pleasure. There are little water pools aside the toilet with stones in. Really nice. And the tap is a genius contraction that reminded us of the Crystal Maze, when someone successfully got a crystal and it came down half a bamboo pipe. Once again, pretty specific, but this place doesn't relate to any frame of reference!!
The staff were nice too, I was suprised it wasn't table service, especially because it was so quiet, but it didn't matter. Stopped us from getting well drunk and falling over the stepping stones.
Defo a place to check out in Hongdae!!
