oooooo, this has been a right find. But how best to describe it?
'I have a dream' is located on the B3 floor of a high rise just on the corner of exit 7, Gangnam station. You need to double back on yourself after leaving the entrance of the subway and then it's in a building on your right. You catch the lift down, and when the doors open, it's like entering another world!
It's a very cosy and welcoming space, with the ceiling decorated in brightly coloured spots and the woodwork made of roccoco inspired guilded wood. There are nicknacks all over, and a book shelf crammed with many books running the length of the wall. The lighting is low and it has a bistro feel. We were ushered upstairs. There is a balcony where you can look down to the floor below, and from there we noticed a stage with a drum kit set up. The music was light jazz and fitted the place perfectly. The downstairs room from what we could see consisted of small tables surrounded by similar nicknacks and quirky decor.
We were given super cool menus, old books with the menu written inside. And our waiter brought what we thought was a bottle of wine, but turned out to be an old bottle of wine used as the water jug, with cute tea cups that he poured it into. The menu was mainly Italian themed, and it all smelled good but we had come for another reason.....
They serve ice shaving dessert that is the most heavenly (and boozy, as it turned out) treat ever! It came in a huge glass bowl, a bit too big for two to share, but that's how we did it anyway. There are ice shavings in the bottom flavoured with rum and red bean, on top of that scoops of dusty vanilla icecream and with a glace cherry on top and a few bandy snaps thrown in for good measure. MM-MM. Just what you need on a sweaty summer's day. It was 15,000 which I thought was reasonable especially if you are sharing.
They also had an extensive wine menu, but something we didn't try this visit, seen as though the rum was making us feel a bit tispy and we hadn't had tea yet! We did drink 'dream tea' which was well expensive and tasted lovely, if a little medicinal. I probably wouldn't recommend the tea only because with ice cream, it's never a winner. And our food kind of doubled as a drink anyway.
The service was extremely professional and helpful. They explained the menu to us in english the best they could which was really sweet and split the bill using our credit cards at the end.
I can't vouch for the other food, but I would definitely recommend the dessert! Definitely a place to go back to.
