This is a traditional galbi restaurant- korean bbq. mm-hm.
However, the first weird twist happened before we even got there. We were looking for a place to eat near our house when we noticed a side street full of quiant paintings of pigs.
We followed the pictures and were just looking at them when the elderly watriess enticed us in. I'm glad we did!
The place was totally dead (hence their overzealousness) and we had a pick of the tables. It's really weird because around that area there are loads of places to chose from. I don't know if it's new or just not popular but we thought it was great.
The quirky drawings extended over the entire wallspace. The drawings centered around pigs and beer. So accordingly we ordered pigs and beer. mm
Our bbq was brought to us and the extractor pulled down. Our beers came and then out came the banchan or side dishes. We had a great array, seaweed, broiled egg, acorn jelly, kimchi, bean paste and leaves (probably more stuff I'm forgetting too).
Then out came the pork. We'd ordered samgyeopsal. It's basically think streaky bacon which you grill on both sides, chop up and continue to cook til you're ready to eat it. It came with onion and large mushrooms to grill too which got chopped up with the scissors and stuck on the grill.
There was plenty enough food, but the weird bit was our service. I think the people who owned it were bored/ overwhelmed that some whiteys were in, so they pretty much cooked for us and hovered above us throughout the meal. It was a bit annoying because we couldn't really chat, but I know they meant well, and they taught us some Korean words and we had a good giggle at our crappy pronunciation.

Just a bit more on the paintings on the walls. They were a really nice touch. Even though most restaurants are independant here, alot of them are quite basic inside. It was really nice to be somewhere with a cool style and definitely made it stand out from the rest.
To find it, I would take exit 3 from Sangwangshimni station (line 2), walk towards Holly's coffee and keep going. Near there on a side street you'll see the paintings, theres one of a pig Marylin Monroe, follow them.

Price was reasonable, although I have eaten more with better side dishes for cheaper in other places.
