We were cuffed to find this place!! Firstly, it's a mod cafe, with a cool vespa in the window. The owner (Bird) is one well dressed man, with a nice v neck and flat cap.
The cafe has several small rooms which feel cosy and cute. There are ones with chairs at the front and Korean style ones at the back with low tables. We sat in the window and admired the vespa. there was a tiny porch where the 'Joy' of bird en joy lives. He's the pet dog and he seemd to draw lots of people walking by to give him a stroke.
All good so far.
There are a brilliant collection of little plastic figurines (including one of astroboy seeming to be having his bum injected), this made me happy.
Even the menu had attention to detail: all the items were hand drawn and prices hand written. A nice arty touch.
We went for the burger sets which came with a sweet coffee. Liam obviously had a beer too.
The burgers were nice. They are handmade at the place, we forgot to ask for it without mayo etc, so could only eat half. but it was good. They were presented american style in a paper wrap.
We were just getting ready to leave when a huge portion of chips turned up as well- nice!
Our bill was really hefty. over double what you'd pay in a Korean restaurant, but the experience was brilliant. I think Bird was pretty excited to have so many foriegn visitors and we talked to him about mod stuff for a while.
One massive question though, where was the mod music?? Throughout our time there the music was K-pop. Fine, I suppose, but in a mod cafe, you'd think that would have really made the atmosphere.
So far, one of our favourite places.
You can find it by going to Hyehwa tube and heading to Naksan park out of exit 2. It's behind Korea National Open University up a side street
