We ate here on the last night of our Amsterdam break. We had a few options that we wanted to try but went for this little bistro and I am so glad that we did! Low lighting, simple and elegant decoration, open through to the kitchen, it was very busy on this Friday night and we managed to get the last table when we went in. People later were offered a seat at the bar and given an estimate of the time it would be until a table was free. It was 29.50 Euros for three courses, and a bottle of pinot noir, a bottle of water, a nice brandy and an Irish coffee made it 99.50 Euros, which is about £90, so the most we have ever spent on a meal for the two of us, but Amsterdam is a little pricey anywhere, especially with the exchange rate and it was so nice, it was worth it. There were about 5 or 6 choices for starter and main. We had carpaccio beef with capers, and aubergine and mascarpone ravioli in spicy sauce for first course and Salmon with mashed potatoes, and duck with dauphanoise potatoes, both with veg for mains. Puddings were apple tarte tatin with cinnamon ice cream, and banana creme brulee. We ate every tiny little bit and it was all amazing. The portions were perfect size, enough so you felt like you had had a good meal, not too much so you felt too stuffed. The couple that run it were so lovely, but let you get on with the meal and service wasn't fussy. The crowd was mixed, all ages, a few couples, larger and smaller groups of friends, all having a lovely time but all very salubrious.

If you are staying by Vondel Park in Amsterdam and fancy a nice treat then I urge you to go. It is brilliant.
